This project is being donated to the City of Uvalde and it's citizens. All Fired Up Pottery in Las Vegas, Nevada - along with the listed studio peer artists - are bringing this activity with the intention there should be no charge to anyone that wishes to participate. 2000 tiles are coming at this point in time. Materials have been donated from suppliers and the team has a Gofundme page available to help pay for their travel expenses that are all out of pocket for each artist. Donations and support are welcomed... Covid has been a trying time for each of the artist's brick and mortar storefronts across the country as true, "Mom & Pop" sized small businesses. They are driven by the importance of memorializing Uvalde's loved ones with tile art. They understand the value of bringing the community of Uvalde together with the healing and therapeutic quality of the visual arts. Using their collective expertise in the field of ceramic arts, they each desire to support Uvalde in this way and ultimately return the gift of a fantastic legacy mural. There is not going to be an instructor leading from a stage or anyone giving step by step instructions. No need to come at a certain time for a class or workshop...simply arrive, follow along the stations with simple signs for what to do and you're off and running! The stations are set up like a buffet line and then the painting tables are out and about in the center of each room.
We thoughtfully ask that the First 2 hours of each day are - at each site - respectfully reserved for Robb Elementary families, students, faculty, administration and medical personnel, whenever possible.
This event is designed for the average person to participate, to enjoy and to leave their thoughts and prayers for the community of Uvalde. You need not be Picasso to join in. This will be a collection of children's art of all ages, youth & teens, adults and seniors. It is a patchwork quilt of all citizens represented in Uvalde showing the love for those they lost and love for their community at large. All are welcome and there is no judgement or review of the artwork created.
The art tiles painted will not go home with individuals and families...these are created for use by the City of Uvalde for a later date when a suitable public art piece can be placed. It is intended that the tiles be placed together in a mural setting. It should be installed in Uvalde where all can reflect upon them, honor loved ones lost and injured and enjoy the beautification that came from the hearts of Uvalde's people.
